Ranieri is the best coach dominance of Primera FIFA Team of the Year
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri was named coach of the year at the FIFA award ceremony in Zurich on Monday night. The 65-year-old Italian beat off competition from fellow finalists Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and Portugal boss Fernando Santos to scoop the prestigious award. Ranieri led Leicester to a historic Premier League triumph in 2016, leading a team that had narrowly avoided relegation 12 months earlier to their first top-flight title.
Italian expert Lester took him to the title in the Premier League causing surprise in England as the favorite in this category was still Zinedine Zidane of Real Madrid which brought European super cup and the world title in 2016.
The third finalist was the Portuguese coach Fernando Santos, but ultimately FIFA declared Ranieri coach of the year.
Previously selected and the team of the year and it is dominated by the stars of the Spanish league. In the best eleven, FIFA entered: Manuel Neuer, Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Andres Iniesta, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Excluding Neuer and Alves who last season played in Spain, all other players are members of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
